I love doing workshops

I did my 2nd ever workshop yesterday and again, sold several hundred dollars worth of Stampin’ Up! products.

Again, I was very nervous, but, you know what? I really enjoyed it. I got a booking for mid September (I now have 3 bookings) and I am so enjoying teaching “make and takes” and seeing peoples faces light up when they realise they have made something pretty to take home with them and that it was a very easy thing to make.

I love meeting people and sharing the passion of creating with Stampin’ Up! products. I am so enjoying myself and to make money for doing something I love - well, how cool is that?

I have a bit of time up my sleeve this morning, so, I am going to make some more cards, to add to my growing pile of cards. I am going to make some kind of display board with my cards on it so I can take them with me to workshops and show others just what can be made with the various Stampin’ Up! products.

This is so much fun. I am so happy I have found something I love doing that is not too hard on my failing eyesight. :0)

A tote

I have not had much chance to be on line, but, that does not mean I am not making stuff.

I had some wonderful news last week. I have been chosen to be a recipient of a “Go For Gold” Scholarship from the MS Society and my award allows me to purchase a lot of Stampin’ Up! products. Myself and the other recipients have been invited to a luncheon on Sunday July 27th to receive our award.  I am allowed to bring friends with me and my son and my friend Carmel are coming along.  I am very excited about this.

Multiple Sclerosis has played havoc with my health over the past 9 years and being able to use my craft skills doing various things has really helped to keep my spirits up.  My eyesight has been permanently damaged and I am really grateful that though I cannot embroider like I used to, I can make greeting cards. The Go For Gold Scholarship is an amazing gift for me to be able to really make the most of doing what I love best.

It is a friends birthday today and I made a card and discovered I have no suitable envelopes, so, I made this cute tote bag to put the card in.

I got the tutorial for this little tote bag, from “Running with Scissors” by Leslie Miller

“Running with scissors” is a great blog and there are some beautiful and inspiring items on it. The lady who writes it is really talented.

My tote is nowhere near as good as hers, but, seeing it is my first one, I am happy with it and I am sure my work will improve with practice.

I used “Stampin’ Up!” products to make this tote and card. Rich regals card stock (color, Always Artichoke), Double sided paper from the Designer paper series “Le Jardin”, Ribbon from the “Theater” collection and 1 1/4 round punch, the scallop punch and some chocolate chip cardstock for the scallop on the card. It was easy to make and the tutorial on “Running With Scissors” was easy to follow (well, I followed it and I am not a genius, so it must be easy to follow lol)

I have also been really busy coloring with water color pencils and an Aqua Painter. I am so loving coloring my stamped images. It is awesome fun and has quickly become a passion. Below is a photo of some of the playing I have been doing. They are not real good because I am just “playing around” getting the feel of the watercolor pencils and Aquapainter, but, they are a start and will improve as I learn. I am just loving playing around with the stamped images and colors. Next on my wish list are the color markers and crayons, oh and about 50 different colored stamp pads, which I will be getting very soon.

It went really well…………..

My first workshop went really well.

My hostess ended up with a lovely hostess stamp set and $130 worth of free products to choose for herself. I also got a workshop booking. It was good fun and though nervous at first, I enjoyed doing the workshop. :0)

Todays cards

My first workshop cards that I will be teaching how to make, in my very first workshop, tomorrow. The can be used either horizontally or vertically.

Am I nervous? Yes, I am terrified. I am not so worried about teaching how to make these cards, I am worried because I am more “creative” minded than “business” minded, so, it will be difficult for me to remember and explain all the business stuff.

First workshop

I have my first workshop this weekend and I just made a card holder to put the hostess gift in (6 small cards I made the other day) and a gift bag to put a stamp in that I am giving away as a door prize.
